Frequently Asked Questions

What is a research study?

A research study (also called a clinical trial) is a medical study that helps to answer important questions about an investigational study drug – these may include how well an investigational study drug works for a certain condition. All medications must be tested in clinical research studies before they can be approved and prescribed to patients.

A research study is part of the process by which new and innovative medications, interventions and treatments are evaluated before they can be approved and brought to market, so people can live happier and healthier lives. Even over-the-counter medications, such as NSAIDs you may have used to counteract a headache, have gone through the clinical research study process before they were available at your local pharmacy.

This GAD study is being conducted to assess the safety and effectiveness of an investigational study drug for adults with Generalized Anxiety Disorder. If you qualify and choose to participate you will be helping to advance the research in the treatment of Anxiety.

The investigational study drug is an experimental drug. “Experimental” means that the investigational study drug is currently being tested and is not approved for sale in the United States by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

Approximately 464 adult study subjects across the globe will take part in this study. If you agree to take part, and the study doctor determines that the study is right for you, it is expected that you will be in the study for about 12 weeks. The study will include about 8 study center visits.

Qualified study participants may be reimbursed for travel and study-related expenses. Please discuss this with the study team when they contact you.

There is no cost to participate in this GAD study.

The research team will be able to explain more about what this GAD study will involve, and, if the study doctor determines that the study is right for you, it is up to you to decide if you want to take part. Participation in this study is voluntary. Whether or not you decide to participate in this study will not affect your current or future relationships with your doctors. If you decide to participate, you are free to withdraw at any time without affecting those relationships.

We match you to a study center within a close travel distance from your home. If we are not running the study in your area currently, with your permission, we will keep you in our database and reach out once a study in your area becomes available. If, at any time, you decide you no longer want your information stored, you can opt out and we will delete your details.
